Before our carriers pick up your vehicle, we’ll need a few things in place to ensure a smooth handoff:
Provide all necessary keys, including those for the gas cap and trunk
Let us know about any aftermarket modifications
Keep your gas tank between ¼ and ½ full
Make sure the tires are properly inflated
Confirm that the driver’s door and window are fully operational
Ensure the brakes are in good condition
Charge the battery
Check that there are no fluid leaks”
Before pickup, make sure to minimize and safely store any personal items. You’re allowed up to 100 lbs of belongings, which must be kept in the trunk or below the window line. That said, we strongly recommend removing anything valuable for your peace of mind.
For shipments that involve ocean transport, your vehicle must be completely free of personal belongings to comply with regulations.
Before shipping, it’s a good idea to remove or disable any accessories that might be at risk during loading or transit. This includes turning off alarm systems, taking off fixed antennas, removing dash-mounted or interior aftermarket add-ons, and detaching luggage, bike, or ski racks.
Be sure to remove personal items like your garage door opener, music accessories, and especially your toll transponder (such as EZ Pass) before shipping.
At pickup, you’ll go over the necessary paperwork with the carrier, verify the delivery address, and share the name and contact details of the person receiving the vehicle at its destination. To avoid any communication issues, it’s wise to provide more than one phone number.
When your carrier arrives, they’ll conduct a walk-around inspection of your vehicle, noting any existing exterior damage. To be extra safe, we recommend snapping a few photos or taking a short video of your car’s condition at pickup. Don’t forget to request a copy of the Bill of Lading from the driver for your records.
